Remediating Risk and Consolidating User Stories for Healthcare Organization

Corporate Meeting

Business Challenge

A global healthcare organization was engaged in a multi-year global program to standardize and modernize human resources information management. The program spanned multiple countries, encompassed a number of business areas, touched multiple systems and included over 200 interfaces. It was quickly revealed that migration assumptions did not match the reality of the required solution. Initial end-to-end testing failed because user stories were not aligned to business processes and were incompatible with global framework or standards.

Solutions

The Experis team developed an 8-criterion user story health assessment tool to evaluate the level of risk associated with 1800+ existing user stories. Afterwards, we presented findings to Senior Leadership, and recommended a risk-based approach to remediate requirements. The team presented multiple options to reduce remediation timeline while preserving delivery quality and scope. Additionally, we created a global Baseline Framework to align requirements to business processes.

Results

While working with the client, Experis obtained squad approvals for all 650+ new and consolidated existing user stories for all geographies in four months. Our expertise enabled development and testing teams to accurately estimate effort and to commit to project schedules due to timely refinement and the unambiguous wording of user stories. Our team significantly reduced cycle time and churn between requirements and development and successfully addressed gaps introduced by “lift and shift” assumptions through iterative validation of baseline framework.
