Challenge
ManpowerGroup needed to re-envision its North America employee intranet, which was running on an outdated platform, required extensive support from IT, and was difficult to navigate and use. The company wanted to create a digital workspace on its existing SharePoint platform, where employees could easily find information. The client’s main objectives were to increase employee productivity and engagement while mitigating the business risk of having critical policies, forms, and information either outdated or hard to find on the old intranet.
Experis Solution
Experis Solutions conducted thorough discovery to understand user needs. We led a two-day stakeholder workshop with all departments to uncover use cases and roles at the brand and function level; gather taxonomy and metadata; and underscore the goals of the new digital workspace.
Based on findings, we designed the information architecture, navigation, and more than 10 templates for the site to present an intuitive, visually pleasing user interface. We developed the site in SharePoint, including a daily delivered news email targeted to custom audiences. We also conducted content trainings to improve the quality of content on the site and help content owners put users first when publishing their new pages. Experis migrated the new content into the site, working closely with page and content owners.
Results
The new intranet provides current information, policies, and daily news that engages employees and surfaces important updates in an appealing and easy to navigate interface. Page owners can easily update and publish new content. Experis Solutions achieved several important goals for the client:
• Eliminated more than 16,500 outdated documents and pages
• Mitigated the risk associated with outdated policies and documentation
• Removed 58 percent of the former site’s content
• Improved employee engagement scores
Lastly, Experis Solutions saved the client $100,000 in annual cost.
