Our client, a leader in scientific computing and data science support, is seeking a dedicated Software Development Engineer to join their innovative team. As a Software Development Engineer, you will be part of the Scientific Computing Support Department supporting data scientists and software development projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a passion for cutting-edge technology, which will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Software Development Engineer

Location: Remote (preferably from the West Coast, with flexible support for different time zones such as EST or European time zones)

Pay Range: $35.85 - $38.hr on Experis W2 (Benefits/PTO/401k)
 

Top 3 Must-Have HARD Skills & years of experience for each:

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience with GitHub
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of understanding and familiarity with AI/LLM technologies and machine learning concepts of API/MCP
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience using software engineering practices in scientific applications and exposure to simulations, computational science, or related domains

 

What's the Job?

  • Maintain and manage customer-facing GitHub repositories to ensure smooth collaboration and code quality.
  • Develop, test, and optimize software solutions tailored for scientific and data science workflows.
  • Apply programming skills to solve complex scientific problems and workflows, including simulation and machine learning activities.
  • Contribute to the development of reusable assets and publish community resources to promote best practices.
  • Support AI/LLM tools and integrate them into scientific applications, leveraging familiarity with AI technologies.

What's Needed?

  • 1-2 years of experience with GitHub or similar version control systems.
  • Understanding and familiarity with AI, large language models (LLMs), and machine learning concepts.
  • Experience applying software engineering practices within scientific applications, including simulations or computational science.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.
