Thermal Design Lead

Our client, a leading organization in the electronics and technology industry, is seeking a Thermal Design Lead to join their innovative engineering team. As a Thermal Design Lead, you will be instrumental in shaping the thermal performance of next-generation CPUs, GPUs, and mobile systems. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent collaboration skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality products that enhance user experience and industry standards.

Job Title:Thermal Design Lead, Client Platforms

Location: Austin, TX - Hybrid

What's the Job?

• Lead end-to-end thermal program development for client products, from pre-silicon design through validation and post-silicon phases.
• Define and document silicon- and system-level thermal, power, and cooling requirements to ensure optimal performance and user comfort.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including architecture, performance, BIOS/SMU, packaging, and customer engineering to align thermal strategies.
• Develop and validate thermal models, including CFD simulations, and troubleshoot thermal interactions at silicon, package, and system levels.
• Drive design decisions related to IP floorplans, component placement, and system integration to achieve best-in-class thermal performance.

What's Needed?

• Deep expertise in heat transfer and fluid dynamics, with hands-on experience in system-level thermal design.
• Proficiency in CFD tools such as Icepak and/or Flotherm for electronics cooling analysis.
• Strong background in thermal validation, debugging silicon and system hardware/software issues.
• Knowledge of thermal components and materials, including fans, heatsinks, shields, and TIMs, and their impact on product performance.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences and stakeholders.
