Our client, in the financial services industry, is seeking a UX Strategist/Lead and Architect to join their team!
Mostly remote with occasional in office in Dallas, TX or Cleveland, OH
2 year contract to start - W2 only
Role Overview
The Experience Strategist will serve as a senior strategic partner to product, and collaborator with the user community, leading end-to-end service design for complex, data-intensive Federal Reserve digital experiences. This role drives UX transformation and establishes scalable design frameworks across multiple touchpoints while providing strategic guidance to the UX team.
Scope of Work
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic UX initiatives for complex enterprise applications with restrictive platform constraints and third-party solution requirements
- Develop comprehensive service design frameworks, journey maps, and experience blueprints that span multiple product teams
- Partner with executive stakeholders, in partnership with product, to translate business challenges into actionable UX strategies
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to UX team members
- Establish and evangelize design standards and best practices across the organization
- Lead quarterly PI planning activities from a UX perspective, ensuring alignment between experience strategy and product roadmaps
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment meetings where business needs require clarification and translation into experience requirements
- Drive UX maturity advancement across product organization
Sprint-Level Activities:
- Participate in PI planning sessions and sprint planning as strategic advisor
- Conduct bi-weekly design reviews with UX team and product stakeholders
- Provide strategic guidance on complex design challenges arising during sprints
- Remove organizational and strategic blockers for embedded UX team members
Key Deliverables:
Quarterly (PI-aligned):
- Strategic UX roadmaps aligned with product PI objectives
- Service design frameworks and experience blueprints for major initiatives
- Executive stakeholder presentations demonstrating business impact and design science (articulating design reasoning)
- UX team objectives and success metrics for upcoming PI
- Quarterly success metrics reports with measurable outcomes (before/after metrics required)
Sprint-level:
- Strategic design direction and feedback on team deliverables
- Stakeholder alignment documentation
- Design governance decisions and standards updates
- Cross-team design pattern recommendations
As Needed:
- Strategic frameworks for new initiatives
- Design principles and governance documentation
- Transformation roadmaps and maturity assessments
Required Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
- 10+ years UX experience with minimum 3-5 years in strategic/leadership capacity
- Proven experience with complex, data-intensive, multi-layer business processes in digital environments
- Experience leading digital transformation initiatives within highly governed organizations
- Track record of working within 3rd party platform constraints and low-code/no-code environments
- Demonstrated ability to influence product strategy at executive level
Portfolio Requirements:
- Systems thinking: End-to-end service design across multiple touchpoints
- Strategic frameworks and transformation work (not just UI deliverables)
- Measurable business outcomes with detailed metrics (specific numbers in before/after model, not just "cost reduction" or "revenue increase")
- Examples of work within restrictive platforms or highly governed environments (understanding that proprietary work may limit shareable examples)
Core Competencies:
- Enterprise UX and UX transformation experience
- Information architecture at system portfolio level
- Service design and workflow design expertise
- Stakeholder management at C-suite level
- Ability to "air drop" into complex situations and quickly structure solutions
- AI tooling strategy (AI for Design) and AI experience enablement
- Design systems leadership at enterprise scale
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries
