Broadcast Technical Engineer

Our client, a leading global IT organization is seeking a Broadcast Technical Engineer to join their team in Research Triangle Park, NC. As a Broadcast Technical Engineer, you will be part of the engineering department supporting live and recorded productions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location: Research Triangle Park, NC (Hybrid)

Salary Range: $105,000K

What's the Job?

  • Serve as Technical Lead for live and recorded productions, supporting both in-person and remote events.
  • Maintain system reliability, operational readiness, and adherence to established engineering standards and best practices.
  • Develop expertise across audio systems, video systems, control room infrastructure, IP-based workflows, and broadcast streaming technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure live production environments.
  • Partner with production teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Support workflow improvements, technical documentation, and ongoing optimization of production systems.
  • Assist with planning, testing, and implementation of new technologies and production workflows.
  • Travel regionally and occasionally globally to support high-profile broadcasts and events.

What's Needed?

  • 3–5 years of experience in broadcast engineering, live production, media systems engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting or leading live and recorded production events.
  • Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, IP-based video transport, and control room operations.
  • Hands-on experience with audio consoles, video switchers, routing systems, encoding/decoding platforms, and streaming technologies.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex audio, video, and streaming issues under tight timelines.
  • Ability to work effectively with production teams, engineering teams, and IT/networking partners.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 4–6 times per year.
