Job Description:
• What is the most important skillset: The Product Owner will be supporting two Agile teams in a Modernization program, where the initial focus will be migrating multiple applications to the AWS Cloud. They'll be working daily with their aligned Agile teams to ensure predictable and sustainable delivery. They'll be partnering with engineering, architecture, and platform stakeholders on database-backed capabilities and ensuring requirements are reflected in epics/stories. They'll be coordinating work within a broader program by managing dependencies, risks and stakeholder communications to keep delivery on track.

Responsibilities:
• Contributes to the creation of product vision and alignment with strategic priorities with stakeholders. Communicates the product and portfolio vision to their squad/team and other squads/teams outside their portfolio/functional area.
• With the squad/team, contributes towards achieving assigned product KPIs. Manages product(s) with a medium-high degree of strategy, scope, and complexity.
• Owns and maintains the product backlog and is accountable for its contents, prioritization, and acceptance criteria. Accountable for clear, actionable user stories.
• Sets priorities and actively participates in squad/team quarterly planning. Sets expectations with stakeholders for delivery of new capabilities, features, and functionalities.
• Works daily with Agile teams clarifying business requirements, removing roadblocks, constantly communicating, and supporting alignment around product strategy.
• Supports the Agile teams operating rhythm (ceremonies, backlog readiness, and impediment identification/removal in partnership with the Scrum Master/Team Coach) to enable predictable delivery.
• Contributes to aligning development and business goals and priorities while working with stakeholders and squad/team to remove roadblocks to execution.
• Partners with engineering, architecture, and platform teams on database-backed capabilities (e.g., data quality, performance, availability, and lifecycle considerations) and ensures requirements are reflected in epics/stories and acceptance criteria
• Supports cloud modernization and migration work (including AWS) by helping define scope, sequencing, dependencies, and release plans across teams.
• Coordinates work within a broader program by managing cross-team dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communications to keep delivery aligned to program milestones.
• Analyzes feasibility, cost of delay ramifications, economies, or other aspects of planned or potential changes to the product.
• Understands regulatory, compliance, and other industry constraints on the product and prioritizes accordingly. Negotiates with immediate squads/teams to ensure priorities are aligned in a portfolio.
• Collaboratively builds the squad/team product roadmap based on strategy and ongoing input from stakeholders.
• Contributes in customer-driven design and usability testing. Ensures a well-positioned product through market & industry analysis
• Responsible foranalyzingdata to identify opportunities, prioritize work, test hypotheses and drivebusiness results.
Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities, etc.)
• Minimum of 2-4 years direct experience with Agile teams
• 5 years in business, technology, or consulting.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management
• Experience working with data and databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and translating technical constraints into clear product requirements.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations/modernization initiatives; familiarity with AWS concepts and services is a plus.
• Experience working in a multi-team program environment, including dependency management and stakeholder alignment across squads/teams.
• Demonstrated ability to support and enable a Scrum team, driving backlog readiness and continuous improvement in collaboration with delivery leads.
• Able to depict complex ideas, issues, and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of insurance industry preferred.
• Ability to use data to prioritize and make tradeoff decisions
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to lead the team to push the solution and progress.
• Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.
