IT Security Associate

Our client, a leading organization in financial services, is seeking a IT Security Associate to join their team. As a IT Security Associate, you will be part of the Security Operations Center (SOC) supporting monitoring, investigation, and response activities across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong drive to improve security outcomes, a curiosity for investigating alerts to uncover root cause, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

What's the Job?

• Act as a core member of the SOC, supporting cyber monitoring and response, threat hunting, and incident response activities.
• Analyze security alerts and respond to security events and incidents by investigating to determine root cause and identify control gaps that allowed threats to progress.
• Perform technical analysis during incident response, including tracking threat actor actions as part of the broader SOC and CSIRT processes.
• Identify false positives and drive detection tuning and refinement, as well as improvements to preventative controls to reduce recurrence.
• Maintain and update monitoring and response playbooks, test new adversary TTPs, and collaborate with detection engineering and automation teams to enhance prevention, detection, and response capabilities.

What's Needed?

• 4+ years of experience in cyber security, ideally within a SOC, DFIR, or CSIRT role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document investigations and findings at a high level.
• Demonstrated understanding of cyber security best practices, risk vectors, mitigation techniques, and protection software.
• Strong knowledge of security controls and tools such as SIEM, EDR, NDR, XDR, and UEBA, plus network security concepts (e.g., firewalls, proxy servers, email security, and suspicious traffic flows).
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems, Active Directory, and cloud technologies, along with familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK and similar frameworks.
