Hardware Design Engineer (Routers, Switches, SI/PI, Board Bring-up)

Our client is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer (Routers, Switches, SI/PI, Board Bring-up) to join their team. As a Hardware Design Engineer (Routers, Switches, SI/PI, Board Bring-up), you will be part of the Hardware Engineering organization supporting next-generation router and network switch product development. The ideal candidate will have strong high-speed interface design and analysis skills, proven signal integrity and power integrity expertise, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to drive robust board-level validation.
 

Job Title:Hardware Design Engineer (Routers, Switches, SI/PI, Board Bring-up)

Location:San José, California, 85154, (Onsite)

Pay Range: $50 - $55 per hour on W2
 

What's the Job?

• Design hardware architecture for next-generation router and network switch products, including high-speed interface development and analysis for complex signals and 800G line card support.
• Perform requirement analysis and select key components for major interfaces such as Processor SoC, DDR memory, GPU, FPGA, network switch, PCIe switch, clocking, and power management devices.
• Drive hardware architecture finalization through high-level design, critical component selection, schematics capture, and design analysis.
• Develop PCB stack-up models and extract from tools to meet product PCB thickness, electrical signal speed, power architecture, and trace impedance requirements.
• Execute pre- and post-PCB signal integrity and power integrity analyses (clock jitter, eye diagrams, overshoot/undershoot, crosstalk, DDR batch simulation, SERDES simulation, voltage drop, current density, plane noise, and decoupling analysis), then validate thermal performance and board bring-up through electrical testing and functional validation.

What's Needed?

• Board bring-up and validation of electrical testing for signal quality, including stress testing and board-level functional testing to ensure product performance across corner cases.
• Design and validate power management devices, stress testing systems, and board-level functional test coverage to confirm reliable operation.
• Hands-on experience with signal integrity analysis (clock jitter, eye diagram analysis, overshoot/undershoot, crosstalk) and high-speed interface simulation (DDR batch and SERDES).
• Experience with power integrity analysis (voltage drop, current density, plane noise, decoupling) and the ability to interpret results to improve design robustness.
• Thermal analysis capability to identify hot spots and select appropriate materials such as heatsinks and thermal pads to dissipate power effectively.
