Senior VDI Engineer

Our client is  seeking a Sr VDI Engineer to join their team.  The ideal candidate will have strong ownership of production VDI operations, a drive to automate infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code, and the ability to troubleshoot complex end-user and platform issues with confidence.

Pay Range:$80.00 to $83.00 per hour

What's the Job?

• Administer and support VMware Horizon environments, including connection servers, desktop pools, and UAG/load balancers, as well as App Volumes and DEM.
• Automate provisioning and configuration across AWS and VMware infrastructure using Terraform, helping standardize and scale the VDI platform.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the VDI stack—compute, storage, network, authentication, and display protocol performance—so users can work without interruption.
• Monitor system health, capacity, and user experience; perform root cause analysis and implement preventive fixes to reduce repeat incidents.
• Maintain patching and upgrade lifecycles, and document runbooks and architecture to keep operations consistent and auditable.

What's Needed?

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting production VMware Horizon deployments.
• In-depth understanding of VMware virtualization platforms, including hands-on familiarity or conceptual knowledge of vSphere, vCenter, and Aria Automation.
• Proven experience writing and managing Terraform for both AWS and VMware stacks.
• Extensive troubleshooting experience, including performance analysis, log review, and root cause analysis in large-scale environments.
• Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python scripting, plus experience with monitoring tools such as Horizon Help Desk, Aria Operations, CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
