Senior Virtualization Engineer

Our client, an enterprise technology organization, is seeking a Senior Virtualization Engineer to join their team. As a Senior Virtualization Engineer, you will be part of the Virtualization Engineering organization supporting virtualization remediation, platform administration, and secure operations across VMware and Nutanix environments. The ideal candidate will have strong technical ownership, a methodical approach to vulnerability remediation, and the ability to coordinate across infrastructure teams to keep workloads stable and available.

What's the Job?

• Assess the virtualization estate, including clusters, hypervisors, management appliances, virtual networking, datastores, templates, lifecycle status, and platform dependencies.
• Review vulnerability findings and vendor security advisories affecting VMware and Nutanix components; determine affected assets, business impact, remediation path, prerequisites, and rollback strategy.
• Plan and execute approved upgrades, patches, firmware coordination, and secure-configuration changes while maintaining platform availability and workload integrity.
• Administer and troubleshoot VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and related services, plus Nutanix AHV, Prism Central, Prism Element, and Life Cycle Manager where applicable.
• Coordinate remediation across Windows, Linux, storage, backup, network, and cloud teams; validate guest-tools, drivers, host compatibility, and application testing.

What's Needed?

• 5+ years of enterprise virtualization engineering or administration experience in a complex production environment.
• Hands-on expertise with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter, including cluster administration, HA, DRS, vMotion, virtual networking, datastores, and lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism, or demonstrated ability to support both VMware and Nutanix environments.
• Experience performing hypervisor and management-plane patching, security hardening, certificate maintenance, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong understanding of virtual infrastructure dependencies across storage, SAN/NAS, backup, DNS, NTP, Active Directory, Linux, Windows, and network services.
