Optical Network Transport Engineer

Our high profile Client is seeking an Optical Network Engineer IV to join their team. As an Optical Network Engineer IV, you will be part of the Networking organization supporting operational duties and critical capacity restoration activities required for scaling and network availability. The ideal candidate will have strong ownership mindset, the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment, and the drive to continuously improve system reliability through end-to-end problem solving, which will align successfully in the organization.

Location:  Arlington, VA | 100% Onsite

Pay Range: $75/Hour on Experis W2

What's the Job?

• Deploy, operate, and support high-capacity DWDM and optical network technologies that interconnect data centers globally.
• Troubleshoot DWDM/optical systems to diagnose, isolate, and resolve issues while maintaining high availability and reliability.
• Use optical planning and modeling tools to support network rollout, operational readiness, and ongoing performance needs.
• Contribute to operational excellence by identifying risks early, escalating appropriately, and driving improvements to reduce repeat incidents.
• Manage multiple responsibilities across product development, operations, and strategic initiatives, including operational on-call responsibilities as required.

What's Needed?

• Minimum 5-8 years of industry experience with direct hands-on deployment and operation of high-capacity DWDM systems.
• Excellent network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve optical DWDM network issues.
• Strong project management and time management skills to balance operational duties and project work with team support.
• Solid network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting capability in complex optical environments.
• Experience supporting 24/7 operational environments where downtime has real business impact, including comfort with change management and escalation judgment.
