Our client, Energy Intelligence for Services is seeking a Semantic Platform Engineer to join their team. As a Semantic Platform Engineer, you will be part of the Data & AI Engineering team supporting the development of an AI-driven service that converts existing condition-based maintenance (CBM) analytics into normalized health scores, contextual diagnostics, and prioritized action plans for critical power equipment in data centers. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge graph and ontology engineering experience, hands-on semantic web skills, and the ability to deliver production-ready, portable deployments that support diagnostic agents with reliable context.

Job Title:Semantic Platform Engineer

Location:Boston, MA (Onsite)

What's the Job?

  • Deploy the reused client ontology engine and a single semantic repository shared by partner teams.
  • Build data pipelines that load resolved data into the repository on Azure alongside existing CBM analytics in Databricks.
  • Keep deployments portable using containers and infrastructure as code so the solution can move to another cloud without redesign.
  • Expose the graph to diagnostic agents through documented, read-only query endpoints and measure query performance.
  • Treat ontology and mappings as code: versioned, tested (competency questions as SPARQL tests, SHACL conformance) and executed in CI.

What's Needed?

  • 4+ years building knowledge graphs, ontologies, or semantic data platforms used in production.
  • Hands-on experience with RDF/RDFS, OWL 2, SPARQL 1.1, and SHACL.
  • Solid Python experience (e.g., rdflib, pySHACL or similar), along with git and CI practices.
  • Experience deploying and operating an RDF triple store or reasoner (e.g., GraphDB, Stardog, RDFox, Apache Jena/Fuseki).
  • Azure experience with containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD; experience working with Databricks.

What's in it for me?

  • Work on an energy intelligence platform that turns historical CBM analytics into actionable diagnostic insights for critical power equipment.
  • Build a semantic layer that provides diagnostic agents with asset and relationship context, including dependencies and site placement.
  • Deliver production-grade semantic services with performance measurement, documented query endpoints, and reliable testing in CI.
  • Collaborate with domain experts and help translate modeling choices into clear guidance for software engineering teams.
  • Contribute to a code-driven ontology approach with competency questions and expected answers used to validate agent behavior on historical incidents.
