Our client, a leading company in the consumer products industry, is seeking a REMOTE I-9 Compliance Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented HR compliance professional with experience in employee records, I-9 administration, compliance audits, or data remediation who excels at managing large datasets, maintaining audit-ready documentation, and resolving compliance issues with accuracy and efficiency.

Job Title: I-9 Compliance Remediation Specialist
Location: Fully REMOTE
Contract: 4 month contract (extensions possible)
Pay Range: $28 - $34 hourly

What’s the Job?

  • Maintain and administer the project master tracking spreadsheet, ensuring all I-9 findings, remediation activities, statuses, and supporting documentation are accurately updated and audit-ready.
  • Review, analyze, and investigate I-9 findings identified through the Equifax Inspect platform and conduct research to resolve discrepancies and compliance issues.
  • Perform corrective actions in accordance with established I-9 remediation procedures, employment eligibility verification requirements, and project guidelines.
  • Coordinate remediation efforts with HR team members and stakeholders, monitor progress, provide status updates, and escalate complex or high-risk findings when necessary.
  • Identify recurring issues, compliance trends, and process improvement opportunities while supporting reporting, documentation, audit readiness, and overall project success.

What’s Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Compliance, or a related field preferred; OR equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience supporting I-9 administration, employment eligibility verification, HR operations, employee records management, compliance reviews, audits, or data remediation projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manage large datasets, tracking spreadsheets, reporting metrics, and remediation trackers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and ensure exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, documentation, written communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience with Equifax Inspect, E-Verify, or other I-9 management systems is a plus.
