Cryptography Security SME
Phoenix - Hybrid
12+ month Contract
70-75/hr W2 but open to discuss rates
Our client is seeking a Cryptography Security SME to support a strategic enterprise cryptography initiative focused on cryptographic discovery, cryptographic posture management, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, key management, and post-quantum cryptography readiness.
This individual will play a key role in the evaluation and selection of cryptography platforms, leading technical assessments, proof-of-concepts, vendor evaluations, and implementation planning for a large-scale enterprise cryptography program.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate cryptographic discovery and cryptography posture management solutions during the vendor selection process
- Perform technical due diligence, solution assessments, and vendor scoring activities
- Design, build, and execute proof-of-concept and pilot environments
- Validate discovery and inventory of cryptographic assets, including certificates, keys, protocols, PKI infrastructure, and related security components
- Assess platform scalability, operational fit, integration requirements, and long-term enterprise adoption
- Partner with security, infrastructure, and engineering teams to validate enterprise integrations and workflows
- Develop technical recommendations, architecture guidance, and implementation roadmaps
- Support transition from product evaluation through deployment planning and onboarding
Required Qualifications
- Strong experience in enterprise cryptography and cryptographic asset management
- Deep knowledge of PKI, certificate lifecycle management, and trust services
- Experience with key management systems and Hardware Security Modules (HSMs)
- Hands-on experience with cryptographic discovery or cryptography posture management platforms
- Background in security architecture, platform integration, and enterprise security design
- Experience conducting proof-of-concepts, pilots, and technical product evaluations
- Ability to assess vendor solutions and provide technical recommendations to senior leadership
- Strong understanding of cryptographic governance, operational processes, and risk considerations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cryptographic inventory and discovery tooling
- Knowledge of post-quantum cryptography and crypto-agility initiatives
- Experience supporting large-scale cryptography modernization programs
- Background in financial services, regulated industries, or large enterprise environments
- Familiarity with NIST, FIPS, and modern cryptographic standards

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PKI, certificate management, key management, HSMs, and cryptographic discovery platforms, along with the ability to evaluate vendor technologies and guide enterprise-wide implementation decisions.
