Our client, Information Security is seeking a Cryptographic Architecture & Engineering to join their team. As a Cryptographic Architecture & Engineering, you will be part of the Data Security organization supporting enterprise cryptographic architecture and engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate will have deep cryptographic expertise, strong engineering and automation capability, and the ability to translate security standards into implementable, reusable patterns that engineering teams can directly consume.

Job Title: Cryptographic Architecture & Engineering

Location: Hybrid: Phoenix (AZ), Sunnyvale (CA), Sandy (UT), New York (NY), Charlotte (NC), Atlanta (GA), Sunrise (FL)

Pay Range: 70-80/hr W2 - flexible

What's the Job?

  • Define enterprise cryptographic architecture and strategic patterns across payment and non-payment environments, including applications, APIs, databases, cloud platforms, and infrastructure.
  • Lead post-quantum cryptography readiness and crypto-agility, including cryptographic inventory and Cryptographic Bill of Materials (CBOM), identifying quantum-vulnerable implementations, and driving migration patterns and modernization roadmaps.
  • Provide architecture leadership for payment cryptography, including payment HSMs, payment key management, cryptographic key hierarchies, and applicable PCI requirements.
  • Design modern approaches for enterprise encryption, key management, HSM/HSMaaS, PKI and certificates, digital signatures, and cloud-native cryptography.
  • Translate Data Security standards into architecture-as-code, reusable engineering patterns, reference implementations, APIs, and automated security guardrails; partner with engineering teams to prototype, validate, and implement solutions.

What's Needed?

  • Significant experience in cryptographic engineering, cybersecurity architecture, applied cryptography, or security engineering in a large-scale technology environment.
  • Deep knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, encryption, digital signatures, hashing, TLS, key establishment and exchange, and modern cryptographic protocols.
  • Strong experience with HSMs, enterprise key-management systems, PKI, certificates, and cryptographic key lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate security requirements into working technical architectures and reusable engineering patterns, with hands-on engineering capability to build prototypes, integrations, policy/architecture-as-code, and technical reference implementations.
  • Experience working across engineering, architecture, product, and cybersecurity organizations, including the ability to communicate complex cryptographic concepts, risks, and architecture decisions to engineering teams and senior leadership.

What's in it for me?

  • Work at the intersection of cybersecurity, data governance, and privacy—helping safeguard critical enterprise data through practical, engineering-ready cryptographic capabilities.
  • Move beyond traditional documentation by building architecture-as-code, reusable patterns, and automated guardrails that teams can directly implement.
  • Contribute to major enterprise transitions, including post-quantum cryptography readiness and crypto-agility programs.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to prototype, validate, and implement cryptographic solutions that improve consistency and speed of secure delivery.
  • Strengthen organizational cryptographic engineering capability through mentorship and technical leadership.
