Data Security Product Manager (Encryption / Key Management / HSM)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid) (Client is open for relocation candidates who will relocate to Phoenix at their own expense)
Long term contract (potential "contract to hire")
Hourly rate is open for discussion ... jumping off point around 65-70/hr W2 but open to talk further
Our client is seeking a technical Product Manager/Product Owner to lead the roadmap and delivery of enterprise encryption and key management platforms. This individual will partner closely with security engineers, developers, infrastructure teams, and architects to enhance cryptographic services, improve developer experience, and drive adoption of secure data protection capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Own product roadmap, backlog, and prioritization for encryption, key management, and HSM-related services
- Gather requirements from engineering and security stakeholders and translate them into actionable user stories and delivery plans
- Drive development of APIs, self-service capabilities, developer tools, and service integrations
- Partner with engineering teams on platform modernization, scalability, automation, and operational improvements
- Lead Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and stakeholder communication
- Help identify opportunities to leverage AI tools and automation within product development and security workflows
- Track adoption, platform performance, reliability, and customer experience metrics
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Ownership, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or related technical disciplines
- Experience supporting security platforms, encryption technologies, cryptographic services, or key management systems
- Strong understanding of data encryption, cryptographic keys, key lifecycle management, and data protection concepts
- Experience working within Agile software development environments
- Ability to work effectively with software engineers, security engineers, architects, and infrastructure teams
- Experience defining technical requirements, user stories, and product roadmaps
- Familiarity with APIs, software integrations, and developer-focused platforms
- Experience using Generative AI tools to improve product delivery, documentation, analysis, or engineering processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and enterprise key management solutions
- Knowledge of cryptographic standards, PKI, PCI, FIPS, NIST, or related security frameworks
- Exposure to cloud-based encryption and key management services
- Programming or scripting experience with technologies such as Java, Python, PowerShell, or similar
- Background in financial services, payments, or highly regulated environments
