Job Title: Research & Development Engineer 1

Location: Santa Clara, CA (On-site)

Pay Range: $56-$59 on W2

What's the Job?

  • Work on two AI/ML graphics research tracks: (1) an AI/ML model for lighting and (2) image upscaling.
  • Build, train, and iterate on deep learning models using PyTorch and Python, with a focus on practical performance and measurable outcomes.
  • Apply computer graphics fundamentals to support model design choices, evaluation, and integration into the research workflow.
  • Conduct experimental test programs to evaluate model behavior and results across defined scenarios.
  • Document findings clearly to support ongoing research needs and potential patent-related records.

What's Needed?

  • Actively pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree (preference for PhD; strong alignment with advanced research work).
  • Strong AI/ML background is non-negotiable, including deep learning and ML model building.
  • Hands-on proficiency with PyTorch and Python.
  • Research experience demonstrated through 1–2 projects (no specific publication count required).
  • Willingness to relocate for the summer and work on-site in Santa Clara.

What's in it for me?

  • Internship-style, full-time summer research experience (40 hrs/week) starting June 2027, with the possibility of earlier start if available.
  • Opportunity to work on impactful AI graphics problems—lighting and image upscaling—where ML meets real-time rendering needs.
  • Direct collaboration with a research team and the chance to iterate quickly from experiments to improved model outcomes.
  • Flexibility to extend into the school year by converting to part-time if needed.
  • Two independent positions that can start separately, so you can align your timeline with the project needs.
