Laboratory Technician (General) 1

Our client, an engineering and testing environment, is seeking a Laboratory Technician (General) 1 to join their team. As a Laboratory Technician (General) 1, you will be part of the engineering lab operations group supporting engineering and production work order execution. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a dependable work ethic, and the willingness to learn and follow established processes—skills that will help you contribute to reliable testing and faster debug progress.

Location:Austin, TX

Pay Range: $20 to $22 hourly on w2

What's the Job?

• Execute prioritized work orders and manage product samples throughout the testing process in accordance with established procedures.
• Support engineering debug activities by preparing systems, swapping units, collecting data, and following engineering instructions.
• Track and document work order progress, issues, and completion details, and communicate equipment concerns and updates to supervisors and engineering teams.
• Maintain accurate shift pass-downs and support inventory staging, sample preparation, and material handling to ensure seamless operations.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and operational requirements while maintaining an organized work environment and contributing to continuous improvement and cross-training.

What's Needed?

• Microsoft Office experience is required/useful, especially for documentation and tracking.
• Experience working with a work order system is important.
• Hands-on experience in a lab, testing, manufacturing, electronics, semiconductor, or engineering environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to learn new processes, tools, and equipment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills to support documentation, pass-downs, and coordination.
