POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Financial Application Support Specialist to join an enterprise Compliance Technology team supporting core Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and financial crime systems in Chicago, IL.
In this role, you will bridge technical application engineering and financial compliance operations. You will serve as the primary L2/L3 support resource for the bank’s core compliance platforms—specifically SAS Viya—ensuring continuous application availability, database performance, batch job execution, and seamless data flow across critical AML and transaction monitoring workflows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Application Support: Deliver L2/L3 application maintenance, incident response, and continuous system support for central Compliance & AML technology platforms, with a focus on SAS Viya.

Database & SQL Optimization: Write, execute, and fine-tune complex SQL queries to validate transactions, troubleshoot data pipelines, investigate system exceptions, and perform backend database checks across enterprise relational databases.

Batch Processing & System Monitoring: Oversee daily batch jobs, data ingestion feeds, and automated schedules supporting AML transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and regulatory compliance reporting.

Incident & SLA Management: Triage performance bottlenecks, resolve application bugs, conduct root-cause analysis, and restore service within established SLA targets during production outages.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the technical liaison between Compliance business teams, Data Engineering, Infrastructure groups, and external software vendors to coordinate updates, system patches, and feature releases.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Financial Systems / Corporate App Support: 3+ years of technical application support, production operations, or system administration experience within a financial services, banking, or corporate IT environment.

Strong SQL Capabilities: Proven hands-on proficiency writing complex SQL queries (joins, subqueries, data validation, performance tuning) across relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.

Compliance / AML Platform Exposure: Prior experience supporting or using SAS Viya, SAS Financial Crimes, Actimize, Mantas, or similar financial crime & compliance applications is strongly preferred.

Financial Domain Knowledge: Working understanding of Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), sanctions screening, or fraud detection workflows.

Technical Problem-Solving: Strong analytical capability to diagnose application issues, trace data flow interruptions, and communicate technical updates effectively to non-technical compliance stakeholders.
