P&C Reinsurance Finance Data Transformation Lead

Our client, Property & Casualty (P&C) Reinsurance Finance is seeking a P&C Reinsurance Finance Data Transformation Lead to join their team. As a P&C Reinsurance Finance Data Transformation Lead, you will be part of the Finance Data Modernization effort supporting cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Reinsurance, FPA, and IT. The ideal candidate will have strong finance-to-data translation skills, proven experience leading stakeholder discovery, and the ability to drive governed data layer design that supports management and regulatory reporting.

Location: New York, NY

Pay Range: $50 per hour on W2
 

What's the Job?

• Lead discovery workshops with Finance Actuarial Reinsurance, FPA, and IT stakeholders to document the AS-IS reporting and data landscape.
• Inventory and assess source systems (GL, EPM, policy admin, claims, actuarial reserving, ceded reinsurance, investments) for data availability, grain quality, and ownership.
• Define KPI and report inventory business definitions, including calculation logic, dimensions, named business owners, and signoff processes.
• Map critical data elements across a medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Semantic) and support the TO-BE architecture for the financial data layer, semantic layer, reporting, and self-service.
• Act as functional product owner for the Gold and Semantic layers through build, UAT, and self-service testing with business users; contribute to estimates, SOW inputs, and follow-on proposals.

What's Needed?

• Finance transformation experience with strong alignment to Finance, Data, and/or FPA, including controllership within insurance or reinsurance (consulting or industry).
• Professional qualification such as CA, CPA, ACCA, CFA, MBA Finance, or equivalent depth; plus working fluency in P&C reinsurance finance concepts (e.g., GWPNWP, earned premium, UPR, paid case, IBNR, incurred losses, ALAE/ULAE, commissions and brokerage, DAC, loss expense, combined ratios, ceded reinsurance technical result).
• Knowledge of at least one insurance reporting basis (US GAAP, US STAT, NAIC, IFRS 17, or Solvency II) and the bridges between them.
• Hands-on data modeling concepts (e.g., star schemas, conformed dimensions) and experience supporting medallion/lakehouse patterns; strong SQL proficiency to profile data and validate KPI logic independently.
• Proven ability to run stakeholder workshops and produce client-ready BRDs, KPI catalogs, and architecture narratives.
