Automation Controls Engineer

Our client is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to join their team. As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will be part of the engineering organization supporting industrial automation and OT connectivity initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong PLC/HMI/SCADA programming experience, hands-on commissioning and troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of industrial networking and middleware integration which will align successfully in the organization.

What's the Job?

• Program and commission Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) control platforms, including PLC logic development and on-site start-up support.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy PLC logic using Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 / 500 for ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and GuardLogix systems.
• Configure operator interfaces using FactoryTalk View ME/SE and integrate motion control systems such as PowerFlex VFDs and Kinetix servo drives.
• Configure and manage PTC Kepware (KEPServer/EX) middleware to enable real-time OT data acquisition, protocol conversion, and seamless data flow between shop-floor devices and enterprise systems.
• Perform industrial networking and OT architecture support, including troubleshooting communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, CIP, Modbus TCP/RTU, Profinet) and collaborating with IT/OT teams on managed network components and diagnostics.

What's Needed?

• Demonstrated experience with PLC / HMI / SCADA programming and commissioning, including loop tuning, functional testing, and root-cause analysis.
• Hands-on proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000 / 500 and experience working with ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and GuardLogix platforms.
• Experience configuring FactoryTalk View ME/SE and integrating motion control systems (e.g., PowerFlex VFDs, Kinetix servo drives).
• Proficiency with PTC Kepware (KEPServer/EX), including OPC DA/OPC UA, MQTT, REST, IoT Gateway plugins, tag addressing, channel optimization, and security certificate management.
• Knowledge of industrial networking and OT cybersecurity/safety expectations, including industrial communication troubleshooting and adherence to machine safety standards (ISO 13849, IEC 62061 / 61508) and cybersecurity best practices (ISA/IEC 62443).
