Sr. Communications Specialist

Our client, a leading credit ratings and research organization, is seeking a Sr. Communications Specialist to join their team. As a Sr. Communications Specialist, you will be part of the Ratings Communications team supporting proactive and reactive communications across the Americas and Europe. The ideal candidate will have strong media relations expertise, exceptional writing and storytelling skills, and the ability to translate complex ratings insights into clear external narratives—while staying calm, curious, and proactive in a fast-moving environment.

Job Title:Sr. Communications Specialist

Location:New York, NY (Hybrid: 2–3 days in the NY office; flexible on which days)

Pay Range:$50-$52/hr 

What's the Job?

  • Execute integrated public relations strategies that support S&P Global Ratings’ business priorities across the Americas and Europe.
  • Lead proactive and reactive media relations, including building relationships with key financial, business, and trade media and managing inbound media inquiries.
  • Monitor emerging issues, market developments, and reputational risks, providing timely communications counsel and supporting crisis/issues management as required.
  • Translate complex ratings analysis and insights into compelling external narratives that strengthen visibility and reputation.
  • Provide executive communications support by drafting executive materials and preparing leaders for media interviews, conferences, customer events, and internal engagements.

What's Needed?

  • 10–12 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, or strategic communications.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex, highly regulated, or professional-services organizations.
  • Strong media relations background with established relationships across business, financial, and trade media.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling capabilities, with proven ability to communicate complex topics clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
