Our client is seeking a Senior Java/Python Backend Engineer (Software Engineer 4 - Contingent) to join their team. Location:Phoenix, AZ (Rose Garden) or Charlotte, NC (Brevard)

Pay Range: 65-70/hr

What's the Job?

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that process real-time data streams and support event-driven architectures.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs using Java and Python to enable downstream systems and data workflows.
• Implement reactive, nonblocking services using Spring WebFlux to ensure high-throughput, resilient processing.
• Work with Apache Kafka and Apache Flink to build streaming pipelines, event ingestion, and continuous processing logic.
• Collaborate on AI/agentic components by applying LLM and prompt engineering concepts to backend workflows (as applicable to the team’s approach).

What's Needed?

• 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 4+ years of Java experience, including proficiency with Spring / Spring Boot.
• 2+ years of Python experience focused on backend or data-driven development.
• Deep understanding of reactive programming, including hands-on experience with Spring WebFlux.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven architectures and experience with Flink for stream processing and data pipelines.
