Software Engineer - Java Focused

Our client, Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technology is seeking a Software Engineer - Java Focused to join their team. As a Software Engineer - Java Focused, you will be part of the Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technology team supporting secure authentication capabilities and enterprise web applications. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering ownership, production support discipline, and the ability to partner across product, security, fraud, risk, architecture, and platform stakeholders, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title:Software Engineer - Java Focused

Location:Austin, Texas

Pay Range:  $65-$70/hr 

What's the Job?

• Own design, development, testing, and support for complex application components and secure authentication capabilities.
• Build and support modern authentication journeys, including Passwordless Login and Risk Based Authentication, using risk signals, telemetry, and policy-based decisioning.
• Contribute to secure identity solutions such as FIDO2/WebAuthn/passkeys and risk-aware authentication flows.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs, gateway patterns, and reusable services aligned with platform principles and architectural standards.
• Troubleshoot high-stress, time-critical production issues with strong ownership, sound technical judgment, and a focus on secure, scalable outcomes.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java, JavaScript, and modern web frameworks (Angular preferred).
• Strong experience building or consuming REST APIs and developing secure web applications.
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Cloud Gateway (or similar gateway patterns) and service-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing and engineering quality practices (e.g., JUnit, Karma, Cucumber/BDD, accessibility testing) plus CI/CD and security scanning/observability.
