We are seeking a Principal Technology Architect to lead the modernization of the technology ecosystem supporting data center planning, design, engineering, construction, commissioning, turnover, and asset operations.
Our teams rely on a specialized portfolio of design, engineering, project controls, construction management, procurement, safety, intelligence, and asset-management platforms. As this ecosystem has grown across projects, regions, functions, and delivery partners, it has created overlapping capabilities, inconsistent system ownership, manual handoffs, and complex information flows.
The initial mandate for this role is to rationalize the Design & Construction application portfolio, clarify system boundaries and sources of record, define reusable architecture standards, and develop an executable modernization roadmap.
As the application landscape matures, the architect will establish the information and integration foundation required to connect design intent with procurement, construction, commissioning, and operational asset information. Longer term, this foundation will support advanced analytics, intelligent automation, and AI-assisted delivery.
This is not an application-administration or BIM-management role. It is a senior architecture position requiring deep knowledge of capital-project processes, strong application-portfolio judgment, and the ability to lead decisions across business and technology teams.

Candidates are not expected to be product experts in every platform. They must have deep practical experience with several comparable design, engineering, construction, project-controls, or asset-management systems and demonstrate the ability to evaluate unfamiliar platforms quickly and rigorously.

What You Will Own

• The current-state, target-state, and transition architecture for Data Center Design & Construction technology.
• Business capability and application mapping across planning, design, engineering, project controls, construction, commissioning, turnover, and asset operations.
• System boundaries and sources of record for priority workflows.
• Application rationalization decisions, including when to retain, configure, integrate, consolidate, migrate, replace, or build capabilities.
• Architecture evaluation of strategic platforms and vendors.
• Reusable integration and information-exchange patterns across owner and delivery-partner environments.
• The multiyear modernization roadmap for the Design & Construction technology portfolio.
• Architecture standards and reviews for major initiatives within the domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess how technology is currently used across projects and regions, including configurations, spreadsheets, manual workarounds, shadow systems, and delivery-partner environments.
• Map business capabilities and workflows to the applications and information required to support them.
• Identify application overlap, fragmented workflows, inconsistent implementations, fragile integrations, and opportunities for standardization.
• Define target-state architectures for capabilities including:
• oSite and early-stage planning
• Design authoring and multidisciplinary engineering
• BIM and design coordination
• Drawing, markup, and document collaboration
• Project controls and scheduling
• Cost, commercial, and change management
• Procurement and long-lead equipment management
• Construction planning and field execution
• Progress verification and site visibility
• Safety and quality management
• Commissioning and turnover
• Asset and maintenance management
• Define clear system boundaries and determine where information should be created, approved, maintained, and consumed.
• Develop the coexistence and migration architecture for Procore, BIM360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, recognizing that active projects may remain on different platforms during the transition.
• Determine which capabilities should move to Autodesk Construction Cloud, which should remain in specialized platforms, and where integrations are required.
• Evaluate platforms based on:
• Business and process fit
• Functional capability and limitations
• Data ownership and accessibility
• API and integration maturity
• Security and access models
• Scalability
• Implementation and migration effort
• User adoption
• Total cost of ownership
• Data portability
• Product roadmap
• Vendor dependency and risk
• Design architectures that account for different project-delivery models, contractual responsibilities, organizational boundaries, and contractor-controlled systems.

Required Experience

• Significant experience in technology architecture, construction technology, engineering systems, or capital-project technology.
• Deep understanding of the design-to-construction lifecycle and the information exchanged among owners, designers, contractors, suppliers, commissioning providers, and operators.
• Experience supporting complex capital programs such as data centers, semiconductor facilities, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical facilities, or other mission-critical infrastructure.
• Deep practical experience with several design, engineering, BIM, construction-management, project-controls, procurement, safety, or asset-management platforms.
• Demonstrated experience assessing application portfolios and developing current-state, target-state, and transition architectures.
• Experience leading application rationalization, platform consolidation, or phased migration initiatives.
• Strong application, integration, and information-architecture capabilities.
• Experience defining systems of record, application boundaries, integration patterns, and cross-system information flows.
• Ability to evaluate technology decisions based on business value, implementation complexity, adoption, data portability, vendor dependency, and total cost of ownership.
• Understanding of how project-delivery models, contractual relationships, information ownership, and organizational boundaries affect technology architecture.
• Demonstrated ability to lead decisions among senior business, engineering, construction, and technology stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate effectively from executive strategy through solution-level architecture.

Preferred Experience

• Direct experience with hyperscale or large-scale data center development.
• Experience across both owner and delivery-partner technology environments.
• Strong understanding of BIM, common data environments, and engineering information management.
• Direct experience with several platforms in the listed technology environment.
• Experience migrating from legacy or project-specific construction platforms to a standardized enterprise platform.
• Experience connecting Design & Construction platforms with procurement, commissioning, safety, and asset-management workflows.
• Experience with lifecycle information architecture, digital-thread initiatives, or construction-to-operations handover.
• Exposure to advanced analytics, intelligent automation, computer vision, machine learning, or generative AI applied to engineering and construction workflows.
