Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent

Our client, Consumer Technology Marketing Technology is seeking a Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent to join their team. As a Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent, you will be part of the Consumer Technology Marketing Technology organization supporting an Agentic AI initiative focused on building and deploying greenfield AI agents. The ideal candidate will have strong backend Python development skills, experience designing and consuming APIs, and hands-on familiarity with Agentic AI concepts which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title:Specialty Software Engineer 4 - Contingent

Location:San Francisco, CA

Pay Range: $80-$85/hr 

What's the Job?

• Build, enhance, and support AI agents that orchestrate and automate marketing campaign activities as part of a highly visible, strategic program.
• Develop backend services and microservices that power agent workflows, including API development, integration, and distributed systems design.
• Collaborate daily with developers and architects through standups and close technical interaction, focusing on solving blockers and shipping improvements.
• Implement and optimize retrieval and orchestration capabilities using LLMs, including RAG patterns, tool calling, routing/fallback strategies, and evaluation practices.
• Support production readiness for the first production agents scheduled to go live on August 24th, with a roadmap expected to scale to 20+ AI agents.

What's Needed?

• Python development experience (5+ years) with strong backend engineering fundamentals.
• Microservices experience (5+ years), including building and supporting microservices-based applications.
• API development and integration experience (5+ years), including designing and consuming APIs.
• MongoDB experience (5+ years) and familiarity with vector databases for semantic retrieval.
• Agentic AI experience (2+ years preferred), including LLM/agent orchestration concepts and multi-agent workflow design.
