Contract Duration: 6 Months (with strong potential for extension / multi-role expansion)

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Operations Analyst to support core back-office operations for a premier commercial banking institution in Brea, CA. In this role, you will perform a wide range of essential operational and accounting functions, including ACH processing, account reconciliations, exceptions handling, tax reporting, and regulatory compliance support.

This is a key position within central bank operations, perfect for an experienced banking operations professional or financial analyst skilled in processing daily transactions and maintaining accurate ledgers.

Key Responsibilities

  • ACH & Payment Processing: Handle ACH processing, returns, adjustments, encoding errors, and chargebacks; perform large item check reviews ($5,000+) and EARNS notifications.

  • Account Reconciliation & GLs: Reconcile RITS / Official Check balancing, process activity on controlled accounts, execute General Ledger (GL) certifications, and manage Lockbox deposits.

  • Compliance & Tax Reporting: Support IRS backup withholding, year-end tax reporting, annual state escheatment, dormant account management, Reg CC hold reviews, and processing of levies and subpoenas.

  • Specialized Banking Services: Manage telephone transfers, stop payments, name/account maintenance, IRA/retirement account processing, and armored courier service setups.

  • Vault & Cash Management: Order branch cash and reconcile bank cash vaults; support online banking and cash management service inquiries.

  • Reporting & Auditing: Conduct department callbacks, report reviews, NSF reporting, non-posted items tracking, and complaint resolution.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 2–5+ years of hands-on experience in bank operations, central back-office processing, or financial services operations.

  • Domain Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of banking products, ACH/payment clearing procedures, deposit operations, Reg CC, and regulatory compliance.

  • Core Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills with high attention to detail.

  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-departmental coordination.

  • Software/Tools: Proficient in core banking platforms, GL accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).

  • Eligibility & Logistics: Must be local to Brea, CA, able to work 100% onsite, and eligible to work on a direct W2 basis without employer sponsorship.
