Sr. Scientist

Our client, a leading organization in the life sciences and medical technology industry, is seeking a Sr. Scientist to join their team. As a Sr. Scientist, you will be part of the Research and Development department supporting innovative projects in molecular diagnostics and genomics. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Sr. Scientist

Location:San Diego, CA

Pay Range: $70- 80/ hr 

What's the Job?

• Lead verification and validation studies to support molecular test product launches in clinical laboratories and regulatory submissions, including PMA and IDE processes.
• Design and discuss cross-functional study plans with teams such as biostatistics, bioinformatics, regulatory, and clinical operations.
• Develop, plan, and analyze bench-level experiments across multiple product and technology areas, presenting findings clearly to teams and stakeholders.
• Interpret research data, provide insights, and determine next steps to advance project goals.
• Mentor junior scientists, operate scientific instrumentation, and contribute to process improvements and regulatory compliance efforts.

What's Needed?

• PhD in life sciences, medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related fields, or equivalent experience with a Master’s degree plus 4 years of relevant work experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of related experience.
• At least 5 years of industry or academic experience in biology and/or chemistry.
• 3+ years of experience in medical device/IVD, biotech, or pharmaceutical industries.
• Proven expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
• Knowledge of GMP, ISO, and Quality Systems, with proficiency in statistical software such as JMP.
