Workday Financials Account Center Lead

Position Summary

The Workday Financials Account Center Lead is responsible for leading the design, configuration, implementation, and optimization of Workday Financials Account Center solutions. This role partners with Finance, Accounting, IT, and business stakeholders to streamline accounting processes, automate journal entries, ensure financial data integrity, and support enterprise financial transformation initiatives. The lead serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for Workday Financials Account Center and related integrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end implementation and enhancement projects for Workday Financials Account Center.
• Gather and analyze business requirements from Finance, Accounting, and operational teams.
• Design and configure accounting rules, transaction transformations, accounting derivations, and ledger impacts within Workday Account Center.
• Collaborate with business and technical teams to develop scalable accounting solutions.
• Manage integrations between Workday Financials, payroll, expense management, banking, and third-party applications.
• Perform solution testing, system validation, defect resolution, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes.
• Develop reporting, dashboards, and reconciliation processes to improve financial visibility.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to junior consultants and business users.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend automation strategies.
• Coordinate deployment activities and post-production support.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field.
• 5+ years of Workday Financials experience.
• Hands-on experience implementing and supporting Workday Account Center.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger processes, and financial reporting.
• Experience with Workday Financial Management modules, including:

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Banking & Settlement
  • Revenue Management
  • Expense Management
• Experience with Workday integrations, EIBs, and reporting tools.
• Strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering skills.
• Proven experience leading functional workstreams or implementation teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Workday Financials certification(s).
• CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting credential.
• Experience in insurance, brokerage, healthcare, or professional services industries.
• Experience with large-scale financial transformations and ERP implementations.
• Advanced knowledge of data conversion, system integrations, and financial controls.
