Our client, a leading organization in the technology and hardware industry, is seeking a dedicated OpenBMC Firmware Engineer to join their innovative team. As an OpenBMC Firmware Engineer, you will be part of the Firmware Development Department supporting the Manageability Firmware team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully within the organization.
Job Title: OpenBMC Firmware Engineer
Location: Austin, Texas
Pay Range: $55/hr. on W2
What's the Job?
- Develop BMC firmware within an OpenBMC environment, ensuring high quality and reliability.
- Coordinate with architects, BIOS developers, vendors, and quality assurance teams to deliver robust firmware releases for customer reference boards.
- Contribute to upstream projects within the OpenBMC community, enhancing open-source firmware solutions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot existing firmware designs to improve performance and stability.
- Implement continuous feature enhancements and code improvements, maintaining on-schedule, defect-free firmware deliveries.
What's Needed?
- Previous experience in BMC firmware development, including platforms like Dell iDRAC, Dell CMC, or HP iLo.
- Proficiency with Open Source BMC Software Stack (OpenBMC).
- Programming skills in JavaScript, Shell Scripting, Python, C, and C++.
- Knowledge of low-level protocols such as I2C, I3C, JTAG, SPI, eSPI, UART, and PCIe.
- Experience with source control systems like Git and review tools such as Gerrit, along with Linux kernel programming and driver development.
