Our client is seeking a Automotive Emissions Test Engineer to join their team. As a Automotive Emissions Test Engineer, you will be part of the Emissions and Aftertreatment department supporting vehicle development and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have analytical thinking, proactive problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities, which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Automotive Emissions Test Engineer
Location: Auburn Hills, MI (Onsite)
What's the Job?
- Evaluate, compare, and improve gasoline engine aftertreatment systems to meet or exceed regulatory standards
- Develop and integrate system technologies including engine hardware, exhaust sensors, control strategies, and calibration
- Utilize engine, powertrain, or vehicle chassis dynamometers and simulation/modeling tools for physics-based decision making
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure system performance and regulatory compliance
- Plan, execute, and analyze testing activities to optimize emissions and engine performance
What's Needed?
- Bachelor of Science degree in Automotive, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical/Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
- 2+ years of experience in systems-level engineering with hardware, controls, or calibration development
- Experience with emissions testing, engine hardware, and virtual analysis tools such as GT-Power, AVL Boost, or similar
- Knowledge of combustion processes, engine hardware, OBD systems, and electrified propulsion systems
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in teams
