Senior Code Scanning Security Engineer

Our client is seeking experienced, hands-on engineers to help build and scale enterprise code scanning and application security capabilities across modern cloud-native environments.

This role focuses on developing automated vulnerability detection, secure development tooling, and developer enablement solutions that improve software security while accelerating delivery.

The ideal candidate is a builder who enjoys writing production-quality code, solving complex engineering challenges, and creating scalable platforms that help development teams identify and remediate vulnerabilities early in the software development lifecycle.

This is not a traditional security compliance or advisory role. We are looking for engineers with strong software development backgrounds who can build, automate, troubleshoot, and productionize security solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance automated code scanning and vulnerability detection capabilities
  • Develop integrations between security tools, CI/CD pipelines, developer platforms, APIs, and enterprise applications
  • Create reusable security engineering solutions that support application modernization initiatives
  • Enable secure development across applications, APIs, data services, and AI-enabled solutions
  • Implement automation that reduces manual security reviews and operational overhead
  • Partner with engineering teams to improve security earlier in the SDLC
  • Evaluate, validate, and productionize AI-assisted development practices
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across development, deployment, and runtime environments
  • Analyze technical tradeoffs and recommend scalable engineering solutions
  • Contribute hands-on code while helping drive enterprise security modernization efforts

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience supporting production applications
  • Strong programming experience in Java and Python
  • Experience with at least one additional language such as Go, JavaScript, TypeScript, Rust, or C#
  • Experience building, deploying, and supporting applications in production environments
  • Strong understanding of application security principles and secure coding practices
  • Experience with code scanning, vulnerability management, or security automation tools
  • Experience integrating tools and systems through APIs and automation
  • Cloud-native development experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GCP and/or OpenShift
  • Experience securing APIs and microservices
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and developer platforms
  • Experience with SAST, SCA, and application security tooling
  • Experience building internal engineering platforms, automation frameworks, or developer enablement tools
  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools and validating AI-generated code

What We're Looking For

  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments
  • Strong builder mentality and passion for engineering
  • Deep understanding of how software operates in production
  • Ability to evaluate multiple technical approaches and communicate tradeoffs
  • Comfortable using AI as an accelerator while maintaining strong engineering judgment
  • Hands-on contributor who enjoys solving difficult technical problems
