OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer

Our client, a leading organization in the automotive industry, is seeking a OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer to join their team. As a OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting vehicle manufacturing and development initiatives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong materials science expertise, excellent collaboration skills, and a proactive approach to innovation, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills, Michigan (Onsite)

What's the Job?

• Develop automotive trim coatings and decorative finish technologies for vehicle applications.
• Collaborate with engineering, product development, and quality teams to ensure coating materials meet performance and durability standards.
• Validate and optimize coating materials and processes used in OEM automotive manufacturing environments.
• Create and modify material specifications, participate in new model launches, and support engineering changes requiring material validation.
• Initiate sustainable initiatives and develop innovative material solutions to enhance product offerings.

What's Needed?

• Deep expertise in coatings chemistry and automotive coatings process engineering.
• Experience working closely with suppliers to develop new coating technologies and colors.
• Ability to create or modify material standard specifications effectively.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze root causes of non-conformances.
• Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
