Our client is seeking a OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer to join their team. As a OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting vehicle manufacturing and development teams.  
 

Job Title: OEM Automotive Coatings Materials Engineer

Location: Auburn Hills, MI, (Onsite)

Pay Range: $25-$27 per hour 
 

What's the Job?

• Develop automotive trim coatings and decorative finish technologies for vehicle applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coating materials meet performance, appearance, and durability standards.
• Validate, optimize, and maintain coating materials and associated processes within OEM manufacturing environments.
• Work closely with suppliers to develop new coating technologies and color formulations.
• Participate in new model launches, engineering changes, and continuous improvement activities related to coatings.

What's Needed?

• Deep expertise in materials science, particularly in automotive coatings chemistry and process engineering.
• Experience in developing, validating, and optimizing coating materials for automotive applications.
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering, product development, quality, and supplier teams.
• Ability to create and modify material specifications and standards.
• Proactive mindset with a focus on sustainable initiatives and innovative material development.
