We are looking for a “Principal UX Researcher / Senior Staff User Researcher“ to join one of our Fortune 500 clients.
Job Summary:
We are hiring an experienced Staff User Researcher to lead generative and evaluative research for the connected software experience surrounding a point-of-care diagnostics platform. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role for someone who can own research end to end, from ambiguous discovery questions through synthesis that shapes product and design decisions.
Your focus is the digital and connectivity experience: device-to-EMR/EHR workflows, cloud data platform capabilities, and operator- and administrator-facing applications. You will work across clinical and administrative personas and translate messy field realities into clear direction for product, design, and engineering.
Top Skills Required:
- 7+ years of applied user research experience, including ownership of generative and evaluative studies end to end.
- Strong field research and interviewing skills, and the ability to research complex multi-stakeholder workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to turn qualitative findings into clear, prioritized product direction.
- Excellent synthesis and storytelling, with work samples that show influence on product decisions.
- Ability to operate independently as the primary researcher on a workstream.
Job Responsibilities:
- Plan and run generative research, including contextual inquiry, diary studies, stakeholder interviews, and multi-site field research.
- Map end-to-end journeys across connectivity and data workflows, and identify friction, workarounds, and unmet needs.
- Develop and maintain personas across clinical and administrative user types (for example test operator, clinical staff, practice manager, lab or CLIA director, IT administrator).
- Run evaluative studies on software and connectivity workflows, applying appropriate usability metrics and instruments (task success, SUS, SEQ, and study-appropriate qualitative frameworks).
- Synthesize findings into decision-ready narratives, opportunity framing, and prioritized recommendations for product and design.
- Contribute to research operations, including recruitment strategy, moderator guides, and reusable research templates.
- Partner with product, design, marketing, and engineering to connect research to roadmap and release decisions.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience researching healthcare software, clinical workflows, or device connectivity (e.g., EMR/EHR or LIS integration).
- Experience with point-of-care or diagnostics settings and their clinical and administrative users.
- Experience standing up or contributing to research operations or a UX research function.
Engagement Details:
- 6-month contract with the possibility of extension based on program needs.
- Expected to ramp quickly and contribute to active research within the first few weeks.
- Up to 30% travel time.
We are looking for the candidate who are eligible to work with any employers without sponsorship.
