We are seeking a Technical Writer to support the development, revision, and maintenance of clear, accurate, and user-focused technical documentation. The ideal candidate will have strong technical writing and editing skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to translate complex technical information into easy-to-understand documentation.
Location: Orlando, FL
Pay Range : $23- $25/hr
Duration: 3+ month contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit, and maintain technical manuals, work instructions, procedures, guides, and other technical documentation.
- Gather and interpret technical information from engineers, subject matter experts, drawings, specifications, and other source materials.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and well-structured documentation.
- Review existing documentation and update content based on product, process, or engineering changes.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, operations, and other cross-functional teams to collect and validate technical information.
- Ensure documentation is accurate, consistent, and aligned with applicable documentation standards.
- Perform detailed proofreading, editing, and quality checks of technical content.
- Organize and maintain documentation using appropriate authoring and document management tools.
- Support document revisions, formatting, publishing, and version control activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, consistency, and usability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing, documentation, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and communication skills.
- Ability to understand and document technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineers, SMEs, and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a medical device, healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or other regulated environment.
- Experience with structured authoring or XML-based documentation.
- Experience with tools such as Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, Jira, or similar documentation platforms.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, schematics, CAD models, or technical specifications.
- Experience working with SOPs, work instructions, installation/maintenance manuals, or other controlled documentation.
- Knowledge of quality systems, document control, or regulated documentation processes.
