Our client is seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead for a Full time position who will be responsible to build, enhance, and scale an enterprise data governance program that supports data-driven decision-making, regulatory compliance, analytics, and AI initiatives. This highly visible role will partner with business and technology stakeholders to establish governance standards, improve data quality, and create a trusted data foundation that enables strategic business outcomes.
 

Job Title: Data Governance Lead
Location: Cleveland, OH

Pay Range: $120,000-$150,000/yr

 

What’s the Job?

  • Lead the enterprise data governance program, driving strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of governance capabilities across business and technology teams.
  • Establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and processes related to data quality, metadata management, classification, ownership, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify and govern critical business data elements by defining ownership, quality controls, monitoring practices, and data stewardship responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise metadata assets, including data dictionaries, business glossaries, lineage documentation, and governance frameworks that support analytics and AI initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams to drive governance adoption, manage organizational change, and establish operational governance practices, reporting, and performance metrics.

 

What’s Needed?

  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or enterprise data program leadership roles.
  • Strong expertise in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, including data quality, critical data elements, metadata management, data classification, and stewardship models.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage multiple stakeholders, and drive governance adoption across complex organizations.
  • Experience working with modern data platforms, cloud-based data ecosystems, metadata repositories, and data governance technologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills, with the ability to influence executives and business leaders while delivering measurable governance outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within the insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, dbt, Microsoft Purview, Profisee, Erwin, or similar governance and metadata management tools.
