Physical AI - Senior Engineering / Lab Technical Lead

Our client, a leader in advanced hardware development and robotics, is seeking a Physical AI - Senior Engineering / Lab Technical Lead to join their team. As a Physical AI - Senior Engineering / Lab Technical Lead, you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting the Physical AI team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaborative spirit, which will align successfully in the organization.


Job Title: Physical AI - Senior Engineering / Lab Technical Lead

Location: Boston, MA

Pay Range: $90-95/hr
 

What's the Job?

  • Design, build, and operate test benches for prototype robotic hardware, including power systems, sensors, and communication interfaces.
  • Develop detailed test plans and acceptance criteria in collaboration with hardware engineers; execute tests and document results thoroughly.
  • Create custom fixtures, jigs, and test setups, integrating mechanical fabrication, electrical wiring, and software scripting as needed.
  • Support and lead hardware builds, integrating actuators, sensors, compute modules, and power systems for prototype validation.
  • Perform PCB bring-up, debugging, and troubleshoot communication protocols such as CAN, EtherCAT, and RS-485, ensuring system reliability.

What's Needed?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in hardware development, test engineering, or systems integration across electrical, reliability, or mechatronics domains.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment and debugging at component and system levels.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and mechanical drawings independently.
  • Experience building test benches and custom fixtures from scratch, with strong technical documentation skills.
