Our client, a leader in hardware development and engineering support, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their team. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be part of the technical support department supporting engineering and testing teams. The ideal candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, proactive problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Mechanical Laboratory Technician

Location:Austin, TX

What's the Job?

  • Operate and set up 3D printers to produce test fixtures, brackets, and prototype parts
  • Install, condition, and record data from strain gauges and measurement equipment
  • Configure and run torque measurement and thermal tests, including calibration and data capture
  • Perform mechanical assembly testing, verify fits, and document results accurately
  • Use CAD software like SolidWorks to review parts, interpret drawings, and generate simple models or drawings for lab use

What's Needed?

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on lab experience
  • Experience operating physical test and measurement equipment in a lab or manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, formulas, and organized data logging
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical datasheets, schematics, and drawings
  • Strong written communication skills to produce clear measurement reports
