Our client is seeking a Director of Emergency Management & Business Continuity to join their team. As a Director of Emergency Management & Business Continuity, you will be part of the risk and safety division supporting campus emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and continuity planning. The ideal candidate will have strategic thinking, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills which will align successfully in the organization.
Job Title: Director of Emergency Management & Business Continuity
Location: Santa Cruz, California (on-site 3 days a week, local candidates preferred)
Pay Range:$67.00 to $79.00 per hour
What's the Job?
- Develop, assess, and maintain the campus Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and related policies, ensuring compliance with FEMA and Cal OES standards
- Lead the campus Emergency Management function, including running the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and supervising emergency response teams
- Train and advise executive leadership and staff on emergency preparedness, response, and recovery procedures
- Coordinate with external agencies such as FEMA, DHS, Cal OES, and the American Red Cross to integrate campus plans into regional emergency frameworks
- Oversee crisis communication operations and manage emergency notification systems during incidents
What's Needed?
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Substantive, recent experience in emergency management within large organizations or institutions
- Advanced knowledge of NIMS, SEMS, ICS, and hazard assessment methodologies
- Excellent crisis leadership and communication skills
- Ability to independently manage emergency planning elements, including budget and resources
