Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Our client, a leading healthcare and diagnostics organization, is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join their team. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will be part of the Laboratory Department supporting the Toxicology Testing and Quality teams. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, high attention to detail and adaptability which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)

Location: Santa Rosa, CA (2nd Shift)

Pay Range: Up to $52/hr

Contract: 4-month contract with potential for extension and conversion to permanent

What's the Job?

  • Perform laboratory tests in accordance with standard procedures, applying expertise and sound judgment in the final review and certification of results prior to release
  • Review calibration and QC results to ensure they meet specification limits and take appropriate corrective actions before releasing donor test results
  • Investigate inconsistent lab results and monitor QC performance for shifts or trends, recommending corrective actions as necessary
  • Clean, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate analytical equipment to manufacturer specifications and CLIA requirements, maintaining proper documentation throughout
  • Provide supervision, training, and support for Unlicensed Testing Personnel and certify their continued competency per state requirements

What's Needed?

  • Active California license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist, Toxicologist, or Chemist) under BPC, Chapter 3
  • Bachelor's degree in science (required)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a toxicology laboratory working with mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS and/or GC/MS), or 5 years of general clinical laboratory experience with toxicology knowledge
  • Pipetting and computer skills, with the ability to learn LIMS systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality
