Our client is seeking an experienced IT Resource Capacity Planning Specialist to serve as a strategic partner to senior leadership and help drive enterprise resource planning and capacity management initiatives. This is a highly visible role requiring a strong, consultative professional who can assess current-state resource planning processes, improve organizational alignment, and provide meaningful workforce insights to business leaders.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in resource capacity planning, workforce forecasting, portfolio resource management, or PMO operations. This individual will act as a trusted advisor to leadership, helping optimize resource allocation, identify capacity risks, and support strategic planning efforts across the organization.

What’s the Job?

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with senior leaders to develop and maintain enterprise resource capacity and workforce planning strategies.
  • Analyze resource demand, capacity, utilization, and allocation across multiple business functions and initiatives.
  • Identify short-term and long-term resource gaps and recommend solutions to optimize workforce effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain capacity forecasting models, resource plans, and executive-level reporting.
  • Establish governance, processes, and best practices to improve visibility and consistency across resource planning efforts.
  • Facilitate discussions with leadership regarding staffing priorities, capacity constraints, and organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with PMO, HR, Finance, and business stakeholders to align resource strategies with business objectives.
  • Produce dashboards, metrics, and analytics to support data-driven decision making.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts within resource management and planning functions.
  • Help eliminate silos and create a more integrated enterprise-wide approach to resource planning.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Resource Capacity Planning, Workforce Planning, Resource Management, Portfolio Management, PMO Operations, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing strategic workforce decisions.
  • Strong background in resource forecasting, capacity planning, demand management, and resource optimization.
  • Experience operating in complex enterprise environments with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to build structure and processes in environments where resource planning functions are not fully mature.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with resource and portfolio management tools such as:
    • Planview
    • Workday
    • Clarity (CA PPM)
    • Similar PPM or enterprise resource management platforms
  • Experience supporting PMO, Portfolio Management, IT, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Exposure to large-scale organizational planning and workforce management programs.
  • Financial services industry experience is a plus but not required.

This is a 6 months contract to hire position.
