Lead AML Data Engineer / Financial Crimes Data Sourcing Developer
Location: Jersey City, NJ (Hybrid) (also open to Plano, TX)
Type: Contract
Pay: W2 only - target of 65-68/hr W2

Position Overview
Our banking client is seeking an experienced Lead AML Data Engineer / Financial Crimes Data Sourcing Developer to join a Global Financial Crimes Technology team supporting critical Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Financial Crimes initiatives. This role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data sourcing and provisioning solutions that support AML monitoring, surveillance, and regulatory compliance programs.

The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in enterprise data engineering, data sourcing, data modeling, and large-scale data platforms. This individual will partner closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, technology teams, and production support groups to deliver innovative solutions that drive financial crimes detection and compliance capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex applications and data solutions supporting Financial Crimes technology initiatives.
  • Lead large-scale AML data sourcing, provisioning, and integration efforts across multiple upstream and downstream systems.
  • Collaborate with business partners to gather requirements, refine user stories, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Perform data analysis, data modeling, and impact assessments to support strategic technology initiatives.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes and data pipelines within enterprise data environments.
  • Execute database-intensive development, data migrations, and data conversion activities.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept work to evaluate new technologies and mitigate implementation risks.
  • Support the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Partner with Production Support and Platform teams to manage application upgrades, change management activities, and technical enhancements.
  • Drive adherence to data governance standards, development best practices, and enterprise change management requirements.
  • Provide leadership and coordination across distributed development teams.
  • Effectively communicate project status, risks, timelines, and deliverables to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Operate within Agile delivery frameworks and ensure enterprise compliance standards are met.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Enterprise Application Development.

Strong expertise in:

  • Teradata 16.x
  • SQL and BTEQ scripting
  • Teradata Parallel Transporter (TPT)
  • Informatica 10.x
  • UNIX/Linux Shell Scripting
  • Autosys
  • Cloudera CDP
  • Hadoop ecosystem including Hive, Impala, PySpark, and Scala
  • Extensive experience with data sourcing, data modeling, and enterprise data provisioning.
  • Strong SQL performance tuning and database optimization skills.
  • Experience executing large-scale data migrations and conversion initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and supporting enterprise data solutions.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating development efforts across distributed teams.
  • Strong business engagement and requirements discovery skills.

  • Experience working within highly regulated enterprise environments.
  • Prior leadership or technical lead experience on large-scale data transformation initiatives.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
