Observability Pipeline / Cribl Engineer

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 2 days onsite weekly)

Duration: 6 Months Contract + Extensions

Pay Rate: $60.00 - $70.00 / hour W2

Position Overview

We are seeking a senior Cribl Engineer to take ownership of our enterprise Cribl application infrastructure in Charlotte, NC. This position is a highly critical, project-driven role embedded directly within our monitoring and observability team. We require an in-house expert to lead a 6-month initiative focused on scaling, stabilizing, and optimizing our log routing pipelines and telemetry infrastructure.

This role requires a hybrid schedule, working onsite at our Charlotte office twice a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Ownership: Act as the primary in-house technical resource and platform administrator for the Cribl Stream and Cribl Edge distributed architectures.

  • Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, and optimize high-throughput data processing pipelines for log routing, filtering, parsing, masking, and telemetry transformation.

  • Platform Stabilization & Sizing: Evaluate and tune worker node topologies, queue management, and memory allocations to ensure peak platform reliability and performance.

  • Ecosystem Integration: Manage the flow of raw machine data from various infrastructure endpoints and smoothly route them to internal targets (such as SIEM platforms, Splunk, Elastic, or cloud storage buckets).

  • Version Control & Runbooks: Oversee configuration deployments utilizing Git/GitOps integrations on the Cribl Leader node, maintaining clean system backups, deployment patterns, and operational runbooks.

Core Requirements

  • 4+ Years of Observability & Log Engineering Experience: Broad background specializing in massive scale machine data ingestion, SIEM pipelines, or systems monitoring architectures.

  • Deep Cribl Expertise: Hands-on experience architecting, managing, and troubleshooting Cribl distributed clusters (Leader and Worker nodes) in production environments.

  • Log Management Familiarity: Proficiency working with common data transport protocols and targets like Splunk, Kafka, Elasticsearch, or cloud-native monitoring hubs.

  • Linux & Automation Scripting: Strong foundational knowledge of Linux administration alongside automation tooling or scripting (Bash, Python, Git) to manipulate complex data payloads (JSON, KQL, etc.).

  • Strong Communication: The capability to step up as the single point of contact for the Cribl environment, collaborating effectively with cross-functional system engineering and cloud teams.
