Our client in the financial industry is seeking a Senior Java Big Data Engineer (AWS) to join their Enterprise Transparency Services group. This individual will be responsible for developing and supporting large-scale data solutions that ingest, process, validate, store, and distribute data to support business intelligence initiatives and analytical reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong Java development expertise, experience building data pipelines in AWS environments, and a passion for delivering scalable, high-performance solutions.
Job Title: Senior Java Big Data Engineer (AWS)
Location: Rockville, Maryland (Hybrid)
Pay Range: $70/hr
What's the Job?
- Convert complex business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions utilizing Core Java (JDK 17+)
- Design, build, and support enterprise ETL and data processing pipelines leveraging AWS cloud services and serverless technologies, in alignment with business & technical requirements
- Develop and execute automated testing strategies, including: Unit Testing (ex. JUnit, Mockito), Functional Testing (ex. Playwright or similar), Performance Testing (Gatling or equivalent).
- Architect and optimize data pipeline infrastructure ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead and contribute to code reviews and solution design discussions to promote best practices, code quality, and architectural consistency.
- Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes ensuring seamless integration.
- Partner with production teams utilizing technical expertise to assist with troubleshooting, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and ongoing system support activities.
What's Needed?
- 6+ Years of professional Java development experience with strong expertise in Core Java (JDK 17+) including: Multithreading, Concurrency, Memory Management, and Data structures.
- 3+ years of experience in big data projects in AWS with proven experience designing, developing, and supporting applications using AWS services and serverless technologies.
- 3+ years of experience with API development (REST APIs) and API testing.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and relational databases, including performance tuning and optimization.
- Skilled developing and executing automated test solutions with desired experience using JUnit /Mockito, Playwright, and Gatling or similar.
- Experience with build tools (Maven/Grade) and supporting CI/CD processes, hands-on DevOps experience is a plus!
