Job Description: 

We have a brand-new opportunity due to growth for an Engineering Technician supporting lab infrastructure for AI Data Center Systems (Servers & GPUs) to support the bring-up, debug, and sustainment of servers, components and GPU-based compute platforms. This role supports engineering teams across hardware, systems, and infrastructure in enabling reliable, high-performance AI compute at scale. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI and GPU compute systems, including exposure to next-generation data center technologies in a collaborative engineering culture. 
 
This opportunity is an on-site, Lab-based role in our Austin, Texas Engineering Lab. 
 
THE PERSON You bring successful previous hands-on experience and skills working with hardware, PCBs and discrete components, work experience in lab or data center environments and the ability to troubleshoot complex server component and GPU issues under tight schedules. You are highly motivated and have an ability to work independently while supporting fast-paced engineering teams. You are also known for your strong attention to detail and documentation discipline. Your excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills have helped you build a track record of working collaboratively and efficiently with engineers, technicians, and operations staff at all levels. And most importantly, you have a consistently safety-focused mindset when working around high power and cooling systems. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware components for AI servers, GPU platforms, and related infrastructure 

  • Perform system bring-up, debug, and validation of server hardware components, PCBs, GPUs, and interconnects 

  • Execute hardware modifications, including: 
    o Cable routing and management (power, networking, high-speed interconnects) 
    o Installation of GPUs, NICs, memory, storage, and accelerators 
    o Test point installation, probing, and signal measurements 

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot: 
    o Power, thermal, and cooling issues 
    o Server boot failures, GPU detection issues, and PCIe errors 
    o Hardware faults such as shorts, damaged PCBs, or marginal components 

  • Support failure analysis and root-cause investigations 

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (hardware, systems, facilities, IT, safety) 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, changes, and test results 

  • Support lab and data center operations, including rack builds, rework, and audits  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Hands-on experience with server hardware and PCBs including removal, repair and replacement soldering of discrete components for data center systems and GPU or accelerator-based platforms 

  • Strong understanding of Power delivery, cooling, and airflow in high-density systems, and, PCIe, networking, and high-speed interconnects 

  • Hands on work experience using lab tools such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers 

  • Comfortable working in ESD-controlled lab and data center environments 

  • Ability to lift and rack servers (with assistance as required) 

  • Experience with: 
    o Liquid-cooled or hybrid-cooled server systems 
    o High-power GPU racks (multi-kW per rack) 

  • Prior work in hyperscale data centers, engineering labs, or NPI environments; Experience supporting AI platforms in the semiconductor industry; Familiarity with Linux-based systems and basic command-line diagnostics 

  • Experience reading and understanding schematics, BOMs, and hardware debug documentation
