Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of next-generation hardware systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in designing complex electro-mechanical assemblies, including enclosures and chassis for high-performance electronic products.

Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite)
Type: 12+ Month Contract
Pay Range : $75-80/hr

This role involves full-cycle mechanical design from concept through production, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for electronic products, including enclosures, chassis, and internal structures
• Create 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings using Creo or Siemens NX
• Apply GD&T principles and perform tolerance stack-up and analysis
• Develop designs using sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast components
• Collaborate with electrical and PCB teams for mechanical integration (IDF/ECAD coordination)
• Support design reviews and resolve manufacturing and field issues
• Work closely with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure DFM/DFA compliance
• Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, EMI, thermal, and safety requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design of electronic or electromechanical systems
• Strong experience with Creo or NX CAD tools
• Expertise in sheet metal, plastics, and die-cast design
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis
• Experience working with PCB/ECAD integration and mechanical packaging
• Background in high-volume or production-level hardware design

• Experience in networking, data center, or enterprise hardware products
• Familiarity with enclosure design for electronic systems or chassis-based products
• Experience supporting manufacturing ramp-up and tooling processes
• Strong problem-solving skills in cross-functional engineering environments
