Application Programmer III – Software Release Manager

Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
Primary Tools: BMC Remedy, SharePoint
Additional Tools: Microsoft Office (Excel), ServiceNow (preferred)


Overview

The Software Release Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating software releases across multiple products and platforms. This role ensures that releases are delivered on time, with high quality, and minimal disruption, while balancing business priorities, technical constraints, and operational readiness.

The Release Manager serves as the central coordination point between engineering, QA, operations, product management, and business stakeholders.


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Software delivery
    • Release management
    • Related IT roles
  • ITIL 4 Foundations certification
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools:
    • BMC Remedy (required)
    • ServiceNow (acceptable alternative)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office:
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • SharePoint experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage risk, ambiguity, and competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management experience
  • Microsoft Configuration Manager (SCCM) knowledge
  • Experience with Jira
  • Experience working in multicultural, international environments
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Process optimization experience

Release Planning & Coordination

  • Develop, maintain, and communicate:
    • Release plans
    • Schedules
    • Go-live criteria
  • Coordinate release activities across:
    • Multiple teams
    • Environments
    • Deployment streams
  • Manage dependencies, risks, and issues impacting release timelines
  • Facilitate:
    • Release readiness reviews
    • Go / No-Go decision meetings
  • Provide clear, timely status updates to stakeholders

Process & Governance

  • Enforce change management and release governance standards
  • Maintain release documentation and process playbooks

Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report release metrics
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for:
    • Automation
    • Process improvements
