Quality Assurance Consultant III (Performance Engineering)

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 days/week onsite)

Role Overview

This role focuses on delivering performance testing capabilities for complex applications. The consultant will partner with stakeholders to design test cases, develop performance scripts, and execute load testing scenarios, ensuring application scalability, stability, and reliability.

Core Skills & Experience

Performance Engineering & Testing

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience as a:
  • Developer and/or Performance Architect
• Strong expertise in:
  • Load and performance testing methodologies
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks
  • End-to-end web application performance optimization
• Experience designing and executing:
  • Load tests
  • Failover tests
  • Stress and endurance (aging) tests

Tools & Technologies

• HP LoadRunner (VUGen 9.5 or higher) – advanced scripting (beyond record/playback)
• Dynatrace – performance engineering and monitoring
• Additional monitoring tools:
  • CA Wily Introscope
  • AppDynamics
  • AWR Reports
• Splunk – for performance analysis and log insights
• Jira – Agile tracking and workflow management

Programming & Scripting

• Experience with:
  • Python (required)
  • C / Java
  • SQL query development
  • General scripting
• Ability to build data-driven load testing scripts

Protocols & Architecture

• Strong understanding of:
  • Web protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, Citrix)
• Knowledge of:
  • Distributed load testing environments
  • Application architecture and infrastructure dependencies

Domain & Application Experience

• Experience with LoanIQ (Finastra) or similar load management applications (preferred)
• Development background is a strong plus

Key Responsibilities

• Develop technical performance test plans
• Design and execute load and performance test scenarios
• Create data-driven scripts using Citrix or similar protocols
• Use LoadRunner (or JMeter) for test design and execution
• Lead test data creation activities
• Monitor and analyze performance using tools like Dynatrace and Splunk
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance issues
• Collaborate with:
  • Application development teams
  • Architecture teams
  • Infrastructure and production support teams
• Support defect triage and production readiness planning
• Report findings and recommendations clearly and consistently
• Participate actively in team and project meetings
