Records Processing Clerk

Location: Washington, DC
Onsite: 5 days/week (Monday-Friday)

Under the supervision of the Resource and Information Management division’s management team, the Records Processing Clerk will assist in processing and some scanning of historical documents, and other document related administrative tasks. 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to use databases, scanners, and other software and technical equipment used by Records Management
  • Ability to identify metadata from scanned documents and enter metadata into a computer database
  • Understanding of filing systems, and record archiving procedures

Functions:
  • Basic use of computer
  • Reviewing and sorting of file documents on file archives
  • Data Entry of scanned images and new documents received daily by team
  • Scanning of historical paper documents; preparing selected documents for scanning pursuant to established criteria and instructions
  • Basic knowledge of and experience with archives and records management
  • Rebinding and refiling documents to file folders
  • Returning file folders to proper cabinet drawers
  • Quality control of paper documents at all stages: preparation, unbinding, sorting, scanning, rebinding and refiling
  • Quality Control of electronic files after scanning
  • Good organizational skills
  • A strong ability to pay careful attention to detail
  • Ability to use databases, scanners, and other software and technical equipment used by Records Management
